Fridrich (CFOP) Method

Wrong Slot Situations

Frequently, you will encounter cases in which the corner or edge (but not both) is in the wrong slot (for example, the red-green edge is in the green-orange slot). The simplest way to apporach those kinds of situations is to insert the correct pair into the slot with the worng piece, thus bringing that piece out onto the top layer. There are other alternatives.

Edge in Wrong Slot

If the edge is in the wrong slot but the corner is still in the top, you can pair it up is if it were a Case 5 case.

Examples
Case Method
To connected pair:
U F' U F U'
To separated pair:
U' R U R' U

Corner in Wrong Slot

If the corner is in the wrong slot but the edge is still in the top, you can pair it up is if it were a Case 4 case. This can be confusing though.

Examples
Case Method
To connected pair:
R U' R'
To separated pair:
R U R' U'

Both in Wrong Slot

If both the corner and edge are in the wrong slot, and the same wrong slot (for example, the both pieces of the red-blue pair are in the green-orange slot), insert correct pair into the "wrong" slot (which, in this exmaple, is the green-orange pair).
